Our community mantra
- Run Your Node
- Hold Your Keys
- Mint Your Coins
- Vote with Your Peers
- Sow Your Seeds
These principles express our broader philosophy: verify for yourself, retain control of your keys, create rather than merely consume, govern collectively, preserve what matters, and build trust through direct peer-to-peer relationships.
Steganographic typefaces for HIPS communication
CryptoPolices develops communication tools based on the HIPS — Hidden In Plain Sight principle. Like solitary bees that hide their nests in the cracks and cavities of walls, we seek to conceal sensitive information in places where it can remain visible without being immediately recognized.
CryptoPolices explores steganographic typefaces and visual alphabets designed to embed information within ordinary-looking typography. Rather than relying solely on conventional encryption, these systems explore another layer of security: making information difficult to identify, classify or interpret automatically, while keeping it accessible to human observers who know the underlying code.
The original purpose of these alphabets was to create forms of communication that could remain human-decodable while resisting automated recognition. From this research emerged several experimental, wordless universal languages based on pictograms, symbols and visual grammars.
Our first example is the Politics typeface, inspired by the socio-political alphabet developed by Jacques Villeglé :

Our second example is BASE256U_ALPHABET: a 256-glyph alphabet designed to represent binary information using a compact sequence of characters and symbols.
Its purpose is to explore how a large visual alphabet can transform cryptographic data — including seed material — into a short, human-decodable symbolic representation.
The 256-glyph dictionary combines geometric symbols, mathematical signs, punctuation, numbers, Latin characters, accented characters, Greek letters and other Unicode glyphs:
